Christina Van Yperen, President & CEO | Grundy County Chamber of Commerce

Gilted Edge Winery has joined the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce & Industry as a new member. The winery, located at 9396 Plattville Road in Newark, is owned by Ken and Laura Loos and has been operating for two years with a staff of six.

Ken Loos, who also serves as the winemaker, stated, “We specialize in Bourbon-barrel aged wines and true to fruit flavors- creating California flavors right here in the Midwest.” The winery is family-owned and offers a tasting room and event space on its farm property. Gilted Edge hosts live music, candle making events, food trucks, themed gatherings, and other activities throughout the year.

Laura Loos commented on their approach: “We are forever creating and there is no limit to what can be done. We offer a venue space and rental options for any gathering or event. We look forward to welcoming you to the farm setting and enjoying the rustic charm along with fantastic wine.”

The Chamber held a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by members of the Gilted Edge team, Chamber representatives and ambassadors, as well as Kendall County Board Chairman Matt Kellogg. Christina Van Yperen, President & CEO of the Grundy Chamber, said: “Gilted Edge is a beautiful place for a date night, an outing with friends, and for special occasions. We hope to help our Grundy County businesses and residents discover this unique small business right up the road from our county seat.”

Looking ahead, Gilted Edge plans to release new wines in the fall including annual Reserve Line Bottles and Bourbon Barrel Aged Bottles. The owners also intend to begin offering weddings at their venue starting in 2026.

The winery’s hours are Thursday from 4-8 p.m., Friday 2-8 p.m., Saturday 12-9 p.m., and Sunday 12-5 p.m. More information can be found at giltededgewinery.com or by calling 630-882-0037.
