Goodwill of Central Illinois has opened a new donation center in Coal City, situated at 155 E. Division Street. The facility will be open from Monday to Saturday between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
"We are proud to be opening a donation location in Grundy County," stated Don Johnson, President & CEO of Goodwill. "We want to make donating as convenient as possible for Coal City and the surrounding communities."
The center accepts donations of clothing, housewares, any brand of computer, and related accessories. These items are recycled through a partnership with Dell. Additionally, Goodwill offers a pickup service for large donations.
The opening was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce & Industry on March 11. The event was attended by Coal City Mayor David Spesia along with other village officials.
Beyond its donation services, Goodwill provides employment services, veterans' support services, a youth mentoring program, and operates a 15-room veterans’ home. Further details can be found on their website at www.goodwillpeo.org under the GoodMoves tab.
